OUR STORY

Prevailing Church began when Pastor David felt a calling from God to plant a new church. He left his position as an associate minister at his long time church home and began the journey to starting a church. Pastor David and his wife Rochon and five others started meeting after much prayer and planning, in a conference room at the Best Western in Oklahoma City on September 20th, 2009, with several family members and friends. After a few months the group was able to move to another location located in a warehouse strip building on Classen in Oklahoma City. The church continued to add key members and increased in finances as well as began to actively start reaching out to the community.
In August of 2014 the church was able to secure a standalone building which is the current location of the church, after many improvement and modernization of the building the group has held service their every since. The church has experienced many successes as well as challenges over the years, yet the ministry continues to work to build the kingdom of God and demonstrate the love of Christ to all people they encounter in the church and outside in the community. The church has witnessed healings, miracles and deliverance of many, as well as have made an eternal impact on a countless number of people through outreach events, food pantries, bible schools and direct investment financially into the community.
It is our hope that we can be a place where people will always have an experience and encounter with God, and that we will love people and see people the way God sees them! OUR PASTOR

Pastor David Dean was born in Shawnee, OK and was raised in Oklahoma City,OK where he attended and graduated from Millwood High School in 1986. Pastor David attended the University of Central Oklahoma as a business major in 1986 but later graduated from Mid-America Christian University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Christian Ministries. Pastor David has spent over 20 years in the business and corporate world as a manager and leader with several different sales and financial organizations as well as serving countless hours in bi-vocational ministry as a pastor for now over 11 years.

Pastor David as a child attended a local church in NE OKC with his family, and continued his membership there as an adult where he also met and married his “child/church sweetheart” Rochon on September 4, 1993, which unto this union they have 4 children and two grandchildren. Although he had always been around church and in church, it was until the summer of 1995 that he realized and started walking toward the calling that God had place on his life to be in ministry. Pastor David accepted his call and was licensed into the ministry on May 21, 2000.

Pastor David spent almost 10 years teaching and preaching and growing in ministry until God called him to start Prevailing Church a journey that begun in 2007 and culminated into its first services on September 20th, 2009. Pastor David along with a small group of individuals stepped out on faith and believed God to start this new work. Through his God given vision, preaching and teaching the church has increased financially, numerically and most importantly spiritually. Pastor David has a gift and a unique style for being simple and concise with the Word of God, yet challenging and uplifting in his messages and he is gifted to lead people with a servant’s heart and a humble spirit.

The personal vision Pastor David has for all people is to connect them to God at some level and to help them pursue the vision and purpose that God has for their lives!
